If you were around in the early 90s then you may have seen a virtual reality computer game in your local shopping centre where they were thought to be the next big thing to sweep the nation. Despite the games placing you in the seat of a jet fighter pilot for example, they just didn’t take off the way they were expected to.
The main problem with these games was the fact that there weren’t gloves to control them like we have today and the helmet that had to be worn weighed a tonne. The lack of control and the heavy helmets probably played a huge role in the failure of these machines which were actually really expensive to play on. The graphics and technology were not very good but at least if the games had been good, that could have been forgiven. One big hit and we would all be playing virtual reality games in our living rooms now.
In 2007 there was a new upsurge in virtual reality gaming and this was brought about by companies like Icuiti who produced a version of the virtual reality head set that actually fit in a pair of glasses that you would wear quite easily. This new headset was known as the iWear VR920 game controller and it allowed you to become a part of the game; it could be used with role playing games which were already very popular so it became the first of the next generation virtual reality games.
Giving the impression of being inside a game with the help of a headset or glasses is something that a lot of game developers have been working on over the years. With 3D surround sound earphones, you could become even more immersed in the game and you could just get away from reality for a while.
R4i are items present in many things in today’s era. An RD card can give you a fantastic example of a memory card. One more thing currently in use today is the ps3 jailbreak.
