As a rogue you will be dealing high amounts of damage while attempting to dodge the opponents attacks. On of this you will get access to many skills that stun your foes. I would still suggest you pick up First Aid for the powerful healing capabilities.
If you’re interested in a top notch leveling guide I suggest you check out my Dugis Guide Review. Dugi’s guide will bring your rogue to level 80 in no time on top of many other guides to help you in World of Warcraft.
To get back to business, you could choose whatever tree you like as a rogue and level efficiently. However, if you want to be at your strongest I suggest you follow the build linked below. It revolves around maximizing your damage through the assassination tree with the control and diversity of the Subtlety tree.
Click here for the leveling build
As you may see your main tree will be Subtlety. You won’t be starting in this tree however. The early talents in Assassination are just so powerful for boosting your damage that it’s hard to justify going Subtlety early on.
To get started, invest your first points in the Assassination tree, namely Remorseless Attacks. Now move to combat and pick up Improved Sinister Strike. Now go back to the Assassination tree and finish Malice, then Improved Eviscerate, Lethatlity and Improved Poisons. As you pick these talents up you will instantly notice an amazing increase in damage.
Once you hit level 30 I suggest you go back to your rogue trainer and unlearn your talents. Then simply follow the build in the Subtlety tree so you can pick up Hemorrhage. Why I suddenly respec is because now you get a powerful, low energy cost attack. The reason for this is that in the current end game you won’t find a lot of slow weapons any more (slower than 2.6 one handed weapons). Even though I could bore you with the weapon mechanics in World of Warcraft surrounding Hemmorrhage you may just want to assume my word for it.
Now you have 2 choices. If you like the subtlety tree you can go that route, but I prefer you first go back to the assassination tree and fill that one up to improved poisons once again. This will do wonder for your damage. Lastly you can finish out the Subtlety to get even more tricks in your spell book. .
A lot of people frown upon leveling with Subtlety because they believe it doesn’t do enough damage. The reason I prefer Subtlety is because as long as you choose the right weapon, you will be doing equal or more damage than the other trees on top of having tons of control.
On top of this the subtlety tree will give you a massive advantage in Player versus Player encounters as the tree has many nifty tools that fit right into that niche.
I did my fair share of mutilate leveling aswell and it can be great. This being places where you have such mob density that you can keep slice and dice up through the Cut to the Chase talent, it did lose a lot of power when they changed hunger for blood giving it a lower damage bonus and being far more annoying to keep up.
Another group of players swears by combat leveling. If you like going toe to toe with your opponents and just out damaging them instead of being a sneaky git, yes you may prefer combat. What you can’t beat combat with is having powerful cooldowns that temporarily increase your damage by a lot allowing you to smash through elite quests and hostile players alike.
Unless you really can’t stand the way Subtlety plays I suggest you stick to that route as it’s a safe and quick way to level up.
